A motion graphics editor for shader-based rendering.

This is very much an experimental project exploring various tradeoffs.

What is gained (compared to frame animation):

  • near-infinite zoom in terms of both space and time
  • exact anti-aliasing of edges around thick solid shapes
  • all rendering can be done from a single shader without intermediate render targets (including boolean operations)

What is lost:

  • complex shapes (currently only primitives and combinations of primitives are cost-effective, no texture import exists, however this can be fixed)
  • anisotropic filtering (the filtering is not ideal when the surface is viewed at bigger angles, unlike what's possible with textures, fixing this requires expensive oversampling)

Currently available runtimes:

  • Unity
  • HTML5/WebGL

Important notice

This project is an experimental prototype and is not guaranteed to be useful (even though it aims to be) or do particular things. That said, I'd be interested to find out what your expectations towards it are.
